SEM & Retail: Is There a Better Way?
I came across a post at SpannerWorks.com called Online Retailers ‘Spending More’ on Search Marketing. The post mentioned recent research into the fact that quite a few online retailers are now turning to SEM techniques as a substitute for some email marketing efforts. I’d like to hear your thoughts:
Where do you see search marketing trends moving in the world of online retailing? Has email marketing lost some of its effectiveness in the industry? Which do you think is better, if you have experience as an online retailer, or do you look at them as simply two complementary marketing tactics in a larger plan or campaign?
Anyway, the SEM topic was of particular interest to me when browsing headlines today, b/c I finally launched my first Adwords campaign just a few days ago (as opposed to my strict focus on PR and guerrilla marketing). No luck with it yet, but it’s still early.
