CompareMyCellPhonePlans.com – Site Review
Cell phones have become a pretty vital tool for professionals and entrepreneurs, allowing us to take care of business when we’re away from our offices. But what cell phone plan should you choose for your small business needs? CompareMyCellPhonePlans.com is a site that helps you to compare cell phone plans to find the best fit for your needs.
Highlights
- The simplicity of the blog setup makes it easy to browse the site.
- The breakdown by brand (which covers all of the major cell phone service carries such as through Verizon and AT&T cell phone reviews) helps you find exactly what you want without having to sort through information from each company.
- Another benefit of running the cell phone service provider comparison site in a blog format is the fact that you can subscribe easily to the RSS feed to get the latest updates and information on the cell phone plans and service providers.
- The site owner makes good use of images, whether that be branding graphics like logos of providers or images to break down things like the factors to consider when choosing the best cell phone plan for your small business needs.
Suggestions
- I would have to make the assumption that the site is fairly new, as there isn’t a lot of content yet overall. However, the content that is there includes a solid review of each of the cell phone plan providers, including a 1-10 rating.
- It would probably also be a good idea to set up a category for things like sales, coupon codes, etc. from different providers. It may not mean as many sales directly through this site, but the resource would make for decent linkbait for readers following the industry.
- My best guess would be that the reviews will be the only posts in their current categories, based on the category name and setup. If that’s the case, the (1) wouldn’t be changing, so I would disable the post count number from displaying – it currently makes the blog look a bit empty. Either that, or I would transfer the actual reviews to a page template instead of posts, and have them linked to from a master reviews page rather than in blog categories (reserving categories for things like news, sale announcements, etc.).
- If I were a visitor interesting in comparing cell phone companies, I would want to see some news-oriented posts there. Why a company is in the news could have an influence over purchasing decisions. So I would suggest adding a cell phone news category to the site, and have it updated at least several times per week to keep the site fresh.
- Again as a visitor, I would want to know more about what “official partners” are. If you click on one in the sidebar of the site, you’re taken to an online shop where you can purchase the phones or plans. Without clicking on that, I wouldn’t have known that was possible, and was thinking previously that it would be nice to have a way to buy directly from the review categories of the site. So on review pages where there is an “official sponsor,” I would suggest adding that link directly at the bottom of the review. That would not only be a service to readers, but also has the potential to increase revenue on the site itself.
- I’m by no means a social media junkie, but for a tech and review-based site, I’d say that adding social bookmarking options below the post would also benefit readers.
