Free Green IT E-book Released

Summary: Check out this free e-book on green initiatives by employees from Dmitry Shestrin of Faronics (I was one of the many folks asked to contribute to its creation).

I was recently asked by Dmitry Shestrin, VP of Marketing for Faronics, to contibute to a green IT e-book. The e-book is targeted to employees in IT companies, filled with articles from contributors on things they can do in their role to living a greener work life.

I contributed a segment on greening the social environment at work (anything from coffee breaks to the occasional employee birthday celebration in-office).

The official description of the e-book is as follows:

“A collection of stories, blog posts, and practical advice aimed at employees that are looking to start green initiatives within their companies.”

Check it out. You can download (.pdf) at the link below:

Hi Jennifer. This, I find, a very useful ebook for small offices and large ones.
One point I wish to emphasise is that the IT industry must stop their current practice of using hardware (and software) obsolescene as a tool for business growth and profit enhancement. The large generation of ewaste, led by the IT industry, contributes very largely to climate crisis.
