Review of FirstUnion.co.uk
FirstUnion.co.uk is the site of a national mortgage broker, working with banks, building societies, and others to help secure mortgages and secured loans for their clients. The company specializes in assisting those in need of bad credit or adverse remortgage information and those looking for CCJ mortgages in the UK.
Site Highlights
- Whereas many finance-related websites make it difficult for users to directly contact them, FirstUnion.co.uk offers a variety of direct contact options including an online contact form, email address, toll-free phone number, fax, and mailing address. That, while a small thing, is enough to lend the site a certain amount of trust and credibility.
- There’s an easy-to-find loan application form directly on-site.
- The mortgage section of the site offers quality information for those interested in better understanding mortgages, from a mortgage calculator to explanations of jargon / technical terms on the subject.
- The “treating customers fairly” section of the site seems to demonstrate that the company has a genuine interest in consumer rights and interests.
- I like that tools aren’t only available through their topical sections of the site, but also collectively in a site “toolbox,” making them easier to find by visitors.
- The site offers a nice-sized collection of mortgage and lending articles that are included strictly for the benefit and education of site visitors (unlike other finance-oriented sites, the articles don’t simply exist to bring in ad revenue, as they’re not ad-supported).
Suggestions
While I can’t speak to the accuracy of every bit of information on FirstUnion.co.uk due to the fact that I’m not UK-based, and am more unfamiliar with some of their terms and financial situations and regulations than some of my readers here may be. However, the site / company’s overall professionalism is impressive for what appears to be a strictly (or at least predominantly) Web-based organization in this industry. The only thing that really threw me for a loop from a visitor standpoint was the color scheme (I’ve never really associated pink, for example, with finance-oriented companies), but in the end it isn’t really a bad thing… if nothing else, it’s a differentiating factor between FirstUnion.co.uk and competitors.
