Postal Rate Increases and Effects on Small Business
The US postal rate will be increasing on May 14th, and rates will no longer be determined mostly by weight, but instead will be affected by package size and dimensions. How do you expect this to affect your own small business?
Personally, I expect very little effect on my PR firm, because I do next to no mailings. Focusing on online PR means most things are handled electronically. However, as a side project, I do run a music webzine, and I regularly receive press kits from bands in the mail to review. It may or may not affect how many press kits come in, as opposed to online submissions, but I’ll likely most feel the rate changes when I’m mailing CDs in bulk to an editor or writer for review. Even that shouldn’t be a huge increase though, so personally I’m not too concerned. What about you?
