Small Business Confidence Increases in the US

Reuters reports that for the first time since July, small business confidence is on the up in the US.  While overall confidence may be increasing, a majority of survey respondents still seem pessimistic about small business. That’s despite the Fed’s interest rate cuts, economic stimulus packages, etc.

How do you feel about the future (and even present circumstances) of small business here in the US?

I suppose I’m fortunate that the demand for my type of services doesn’t really decrease much in a recession (which we keep hearing is coming). If anything, people have more interest in hiring independent contractors over hiring full-time employees, or to fill the void after layoffs with less cost to the company. I’m also lucky that I work online, and therefore have an international client base (meaning the weak dollar has actually brought in a lot of business for me from overseas when clients can afford to buy more than usual from providers here).

Are you seeing a slump in your small, online, or home business?
